Christian Mcleod Photography. Today I got to relax.
PAST: Christian Mcleod Photography
You all probably think that’s nothing much, but man I’m telling you this winter has been run, run, run since September.
From Trips with Dylan Stott and Kurt Rist, Massive Mullaghmore, XXL Nominations with Ollie O’Flaherty and Gabe Davies to travelling back and forth between here and Germany with an Exhibition in Herrenhaus, in Southern Baden -W ürttemburg.
This Winter has been tiring to say the least, worth-while but tiring. College is being ploughed through with exams coming up, managing to squeeze this blog post is sweet as I haven’t posted one in a while. I’m sure there were some people glad not to have my gibberish thrown around the internet but sorry to those who kinda liked to read what I write.
As most of you know (since you are reading this on a surfing website) that the Billabong XXL Big Wave Awards Ceremony have just passed. Back in March I was shocked that Billabong actually took so many Irish photos into the competition.
Then a few weeks later I was even more in shock after my photo of Ollie O Flaherty got him through to the Final. It’s been kind of hard to even look at my photo up there with all the amazing photographers who have entered into it before. I’m super stoked for Ollie as well, after seeing him take on that wave and seeing him beside men like Nathan Fletcher and Garrett McNamara. That young man has big Cajones for tackling that huge swell along with all the other boys!
Christian Mcleod Photography PRESENT:
Random People portraits…. Yes Random. When I was back in Germany through the Easter, after getting my Exhibition all put up, thanks to Hanna Kennedy. I was walking around this little village and saw a goat hanging his head out of this little barn door, I met the farmer, spoke to him for a little bit and asked him for his portrait. His story was interesting and I just got the feeling that it would be worth sharing. I named the Project “Book Covers” as People tend to easily “judge a book by its cover” and I’m guilty of this too. However when I met this man, I realised something.
You never see everything no matter how hard you try, and the harder you try the less you find.
I’ve been trying to convey how the people feel and how they represent their story. The Man and his goat have not been posted up yet, but don’t worry, you’ll see all in good time. So while you wait, take a look at the others and don’t judge until you hear their story.
Also recently I got my website up and running. You can check that out here at www.cmcleod.com .
All my up to date portfolio is on there so take a look and let me know what you think. If anyone wants Prints or has any questions feel free to contact me through the Contact page.
Christian Mcleod Photography FUTURE:
So now summer is approaching and I have some Top Secret business planned somewhere up my sleeve. Keep an eye out on Facebook and Swellseekers.ie to keep up to date on my work.
